The Tigers’ previous opponents in 2022 have a 73-37 record against other NCAA FBS programs (minus their result against Auburn). That .664 win percentage ties Georgia at the top of the list with the toughest schedule. With Auburn up Saturday 9-2 against Alabama and Georgia up 5-6 against Georgia Tech, the Tigers will end the regular season alone at the top of the toughest schedule after this week’s game.
1 Win in 27 games for unranked Auburn teams against Alabama teams since the AP poll began in 1936. In 2002, the unranked Tigers beat the No. 9 Crimson Tide 17-7. Alabama has since won seven straight ranked/unranked games against Auburn. The Tide launches Saturday at #8 in this week’s AP poll. Alabama has its lowest rank for the Iron Bowl since 2010 when No. 2 Auburn defeated No. 9 Alabama 28-27.

2 LB Will Anderson Jr. is fighting losses to climb to second on Alabama’s career list. Anderson has 59 tackles for loss. Derrick Thomas holds the school record with 68 from 1985-88, followed by Wallace Gilberry with 60.5 from 2004-2007. Anderson is already second on the Crimson Tide all-time sack list with 32.5. Thomas holds the record with 52. In two games against Auburn, Anderson has 4.5 tackles for losses and two sacks.
2 Auburn players have recorded at least 20 sacks and 30 tackles for loss this century – Quentin Groves with 26 sacks and 37 tackles for loss from 2004-2007 and Antonio Coleman with 24.5 sacks and 46.5 tackles for loss from 2006-2009 .Auburn LB Derick Hall needs 0.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles from the loss to join the group. Hall lost three sacks and 3.5 tackles to Alabama last season.
2 Of Auburn’s 10 coaches since the Iron Bowl returned in 1948, they’ve won their first game against Alabama. Terry Bowden’s Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide 22-14 in 1993, and Gus Malzahn led Auburn to a 34-28 win over Alabama in 2013. On Saturday, Carnell “Cadillac” Williams will be in his fourth game as Auburn’s caretaker manager.
2 Players in Alabama history have more passing yards than QB Bryce Young, who has 7,692. AJ McCarron holds the school record with 9,019 passing yards, and John Parker Wilson is second with 7,924. Young passed Tua Tagovailoa on Alabama’s career passing list in last week’s game. Young threw for 317 yards against Auburn last season. Young also ranks third in overall offense with 7,816 yards (7,692 passing and 124 rushing). McCarron also holds that record with 8,969 total rushing yards, followed by Wilson with 8,099 yards.
3 SEC players have scored more points than Alabama K Will Reichard and Auburn K Anders Carlson, who each enter the Iron Bowl with 410 points. Auburn’s Daniel Carlson, Anders Carlson’s brother, holds the SEC record with 480 points from 2014-2017. Georgia K. Rodrigo Blankenship scored 440 points from 2016-2019 and Georgia K. Blair Walsh scored 412 points from 2008-2011.
4 100-yard rushing plays for Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter. In each, Auburn RB Tank Bigsby also ran 100 yards. In Auburn’s 41-17 win over Western Kentucky last week, Bigsby rushed for 110 yards and two TDs on 18 carries and Hunter rushed for 109 yards and one TD on 13 carries. In a 60-10 win over Akron on September 4, 2021, Bigsby had 119 rushing yards and Hunter had 110. In a 62-0 win over Alabama State on September 11, 2021, Hunter had 147 rushing yards and Bigsby had 122 on a 13 10-10 win over Texas A&M on November 12, Hunter and Bigsby each had 121 rushing yards. Bigsby has played 13 100-yard rushing games in his career. In this century, Auburn has produced seven 100-yard rushers in the Iron Bowl, including the current Tigers coach. Carnell “Cadillac” Williams rushed for 204 yards and two TDs on 26 carries in Auburn’s 28-23 win in 2003.
5 Common opponents for Alabama and Auburn this season – the other members of the SEC West. The Tigers posted a 1-4 record against these teams and were outscored 159-124. The Crimson Tide achieved a 4-1 record, beating the five teams 164-88.
7 First downs were scored by the Auburn offense from a penalty kick against opposing defenses. Only the Air Force has fewer in the country at six this season. Alabama has won 24 first downs from penalties from its opponents.
12 Wins and eight losses for Alabama coach Nick Saban against Auburn – a .600 win ratio. In his 16th season with the Crimson Tide after five years at LSU, Saban’s record in SEC regular-season games against all other teams is 127-22 — an .852 win ratio.
14 Consecutive seasons of at least 10 wins for Alabama tied to the major college record for consecutive seasons of double-digit wins. Florida State set the record for consecutive 10-win seasons from 1987–2000, and the Crimson Tide would break the mark by beating Auburn. Alabama last failed to win 10 games in a season in 2007 when The Tide went 7-6. Alabama won 12 games in 2008, 14 in 2009, 10 in 2010, 12 in 2011, 13 in 2012, 11 in 2013, 12 in 2014, 14 in 2015, 14 in 2016, 13 in in 2017, 14 in 2018, 11 in 2019, 13 in 2020, and 13 in 2021. The Tide needs two wins in 2022 to extend the longest streak of 11 wins in NCAA FBS history to 12.
16 Years since Alabama lost to a team that ended the season with a losing record. The Crimson Tide possesses the longest such streak in the nation. Alabama lost 24-16 to Mississippi State on November 4, 2006, a season in which the Bulldogs had a 3-9 record. Since that loss, Alabama has lost 30 games, and the Tide’s opponent on each of those setbacks posted at least a .500 record in the season in which they defeated Alabama.
16 Iron Bowls as the winning team was surpassed in the fourth quarter. The Iron Bowl winners had the most points in the fourth quarter in 13 of their last 16 games, and in the other three games each team had the same number of points in the last third – two zeros and one seven. In the 2005 Iron Bowl, Auburn scored all points in the first half with a 28-18 win while Alabama scored eight points in the fourth quarter.
23 Back-to-back wins for Alabama over Auburn as the Crimson Tide advance to the Iron Bowl with a record at least three games better than the Tigers’ mark, which it does this season. Since the rivalry resumed in 1948, only one Auburn team has won the Iron Bowl by a record at least three games worse than Tide’s mark. In 1949, the 1-4-3 Tigers turned 6-2-1 Alabama on its head with 14-13.
47 Years since an Auburn grad led the Tigers to the Iron Bowl. Carnell “Cadillac” Williams is the first Auburn head coach who is an alumnus of the school since Ralph “Shug” Jordan worked on the sidelines for the Tigers from 1951-1975. In three Iron Bowls as an Auburn running back, Williams rushed for 284 yards and three TDs for 46 carries, catching two passes for 13 yards and returning four punts for 27 yards and three kickoffs for 66 yards. The youngest Alabama alumnus to serve as the Crimson Tide’s head coach at the Iron Bowl was Mike Shula, who held the reins from 2003-2006.
48 Wins for Alabama, 37 wins for Auburn and a tie in the Tide Tigers series. Auburn leads the series 7-6 in Tuscaloosa.
61 Plays for Auburn TE John Samuel Shenker, most in school history. In the Tigers’ 13-10 win over Texas A&M on November 12, Shenker LB overtook TD Moultry for sole possession of the record. Moultry played in 59 games from 2017 to 2021.
74 years since Auburn has had at least seven losses in consecutive seasons. The Tigers go into Saturday’s game with a 5-6 record after losing 6-7 last season. Auburn had a 2-7 record in 1947 and a 1-8-1 record in 1948. The Tigers have since had seven seasons with at least seven losses, but none in a row.
93 Rushing yards are needed by Auburn RB Tank Bigsby to record 30th 1,000-yard rushing season in school history. Bigsby, who rushed for 1,099 yards in 2021, is already one of 22 Auburn players to have rushed for a 1,000-yard season. Bigsby has rushed for 907 yards and 10 TDs on 164 carries in 2022.
128 Games have been played by Auburn since it was last closed, the second longest streak in school history. Auburn’s most recent shutout loss came on November 17, 2012, 0:49 to Alabama. Auburn’s record streak lasted 149 games, beginning with a 55-16 win over Richmond on October 4, 1980, and ending with a 17-0 loss to Alabama on November 26, 1992. Auburn’s current scoring streak is the 10th-longest in SEC history , and her record streak is the ninth longest.
294 games have been played by Alabama since it was last ruled out, a school record and the third-longest scoring streak in SEC history. Alabama’s last shutout loss came on November 18, 2000, losing 9-0 to Auburn. Florida have a goal streak of 434 games and Georgia have scored in their last 355 games. By scoring against Auburn, Alabama would cement an Ohio State scoring streak from 1993 to 2016 as the 14th-longest in major collegiate football history.
329 Yards on 19 punt returns for Alabama’s Kool-Aid McKinstry, 11 yards more than any other player in the nation in the 2022 season despite returning two punts for 8 yards in the last six games. Auburn has averaged 5.9 yards on nine punt returns in 2022.
586 Rushing yards for Auburn QB Robby Ashford, who is ranked 10th on the Tigers’ all-time Newman list. Two other current Tigers make the list — RB Tank Bigsby in second place with 834 rushing yards in 2020 and RB Jarquez Hunter in ninth place with 593 rushing yards in 2021.
