ATLANTA – The average gas price in Georgia for regular unleaded gasoline fell 6 cents less than a week ago.
Average Georgia gas price trends decline ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Drivers in Georgia are now paying an average price of $3.11 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to overnight changes). The state average on Monday is 6 cents down from a week ago, 12 cents down from a month ago and 13 cents down from this time last year. It now costs $46.65 to fill a 15-gallon tank with regular gasoline. Motorists are now paying almost $2.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to last month.
“The more than 1.5 million Georgians taking to the streets for Thanksgiving will find gas station prices cheaper compared to last year,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “When it comes time to refuel while driving, drivers should consider that filling stations along busy routes can be more expensive. AAA encourages drivers to download the free AAA Mobile App to find the lowest gas prices in their area.”
National average trending down
Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down 10 cents to $3.67 (subject to change overnight). Gas demand fell last week to 8.74 million barrels per day from 9.01 million barrels per day, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline inventories rose nearly 2.2 million barrels to 207.9 million barrels. Rising supply and falling demand for gasoline have helped push pump prices down. As demand remains low and inventories rise, drivers will likely continue to expect falling pump prices ahead of Thanksgiving.
