Georgia Tech returns home after playing its first two games of the season against Utah and Marquette at Ft. Myers Rocket Mortage Tournament. The Jackets will try to make their offense untraceable.
First half: GT 43 – UNA 24
It starts with Jalon Moore, Ja’von Franklin, Miles Kelly, Deebo Coleman and Deivon Smith
The Jackets hit on 3 of their first 4 possessions, including 2 buckets from Smith and a three-pointer from Coleman, to take a 7-0 lead at the 17:16 timeout in North Alabama.
After their 11-0 run, the Jackets began to settle for threes, allowing North Alabama to edge en route to a 9-0 run. This resulted in a Jackets timeout with 14:25 remaining.
Tech came out of the time-out and went on a 10-0 run with threes from Kelly and Lance Terry to open a 10-point lead. North Alabama responded back to reduce the lead to 21-13 with 9:35 at the half. Smith leads all scorers with 6 and Moore has 6 rebounds.
After getting 2 blocks on the defensive end, Terry hit his second three to increase the lead to 24-13 at the 7:32 media timeout.
Buckets from Terry and Coleman coming off the timeout and three from Smith extended the lead before 2 baskets from North Alabama brought the lead back to 33-19, 3:56 at the half.
The Jackets ran 8-0 behind two buckets each from Moore and Kelly before a three-pointer from North Alabama gave the Jackets a 43-24 halftime lead. The Jackets shot 58% from the field and held North Alabama at 33%.
Second half:
Tech started the second half strong, extending a 23-point lead with 15:46 in the game. Three points each from Smith, Moore and Coleman led the standings.
Georgia Tech maintained a 22-point lead before the 11:57 timeout. Buckets from Kelly and Moore gave the Jackets five players in double figures.
The Jackets are down 2:48 without a basket as they now lead by 18 points and are 9:25 in the game. The only points scored after the time-out came from 4 Coleman foul shots.
UNA hit 7 of their last 9 shots to reduce the lead to 68-52 with 7:01 remaining. Franklin and Smith scored the lone buckets coming from the time-out.
Tech maintained a 19-point lead at 74-55 with 3:38 remaining in the game at the media timeout. The jackets had baskets from Smith, Franklin and Moore. Smith leads all scorers with 16 and Moore has 7 rebounds.
