series history

That Green Bay packers lead the all-time series 28-17-0.

Last encounter

2020: The two teams last met in the NFL Covid year in which Green Bay won 30-16 at home. The Eagles took an early lead in the first quarter and lost it after that. Importantly, what sealed the deal was a 77-yard run by Aaron Jones for a touchdown. The Eagles will face an unstoppable Jones tomorrow.

This game at a glance

Now that the Eagles are back in the Victory Column, they want to get back on track. The problem, however, is that the team hit a wall. Since taking on the Houston Texans, the Eagles haven’t been the dominant team we’ve seen in the first half of the season. Now they have a chance to redeem themselves in primetime with a statement win against a pretty decent team.

However, the Green Bay Packers have had their fair share of constant problems this season. Luckily, the run game against the Eagles probably won’t be one of those issues. The Packers fight defensively against sizeable opponents. A win against the Eagles could bring them back into the conversation.

Rainy weather will make this game interesting as both teams would benefit from keeping the ball in the arms of their running backs. However, given the ongoing problem the Eagles have had with ball security, the team will need to be cautious should it rain during the game.

Eagles Injury Report

The Philadelphia Eagles currently have no one on the injury list. AJ Brown (illness), DeVonta Smith (knee) and Josh Jobe (hamstring) are expected to play on Sunday.

Packer Injury Report

Romeo Doubs (ankle) is out of Sunday’s game.

De’Vondre Campbell (knee) is doubtful for Sunday’s game.

David Bakhtiari (knee) is a question for Sunday’s game.

Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle) is a question for Sunday’s game.

Eagles win if…

One of the biggest problems the Eagles have had this season has been defense. However, with the signings of Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh, as well as TJ Edwards’ consistently great season, the Eagles could weather the slump. By the end of the season, the defense will have to hold their own against the running game. Last week against the Colts, the Eagles defense was able to contain the run and the team is expected to do the same again against the Packers. One of the things that has made the Eagles so dominant this season is their turnovers and takeaways. Even though the Packers offense isn’t struggling nearly as much as the defense, the Eagles’ pass rushers need to take action against Aaron Rodgers. Darius Slay and Suh this week expressed interest in doing just that.

Packers win if…

The Packers need to play to their offensive strength. Aaron Jones was unstoppable in their last game against the Eagles, so the team will tend to stick with what works for many reasons. Due to the weather and the Eagles defense fighting the run before Suh and Joseph stepped in, the Packers also have to run down the clock to keep Jalen Hurts and company off the field. With the emergence of Packers wide receiver Christian Watson, he could add some game-changing help to the offense and keep the Eagles defense on its toes.

forecast: Eagles 31-21

The Eagles have been home since the loss and I think things are perfect for the Eagles to get this win. At this point, the stakes are too high for the Eagles to not win Sunday night. I predict it’s going to be a big game for the running backs and TJ Edwards, but I’m also hoping “Big Play” Slay is caught by him.
