Christmas tobogganing amidst December events

Communities across the region celebrate the holiday season with a variety of Christmas events during the first half of December.

In Virginia, the community will light up its square with a lighted Christmas parade beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. Various Virginia organizations will share their Christmas cheer on floats that travel north on South Main Street, circumnavigate the plaza and end at the Cass County Courthouse, where Santa will disembark to greet the children.

In addition to the parade on Friday, the Junior Class sells soup in St Luke’s Hall from 5pm and a silent auction begins at 5pm on the east side of the square in aid of the Children in Need Fund.

There will also be a cake baking competition on Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the Kümmel Pub.

While you wait for the parade to begin, various shops and organizations around the square will host vendors, a cake auction, gingerbread house decorations, food, horse and carriage rides, and crafts.

Visit the Christmas Around the Square Facebook page for more information.
