Haley: 30 Days of Hope

There are more than 700 children available for adoption in Virginia. They are ready to find a lasting and loving family forever. In 30 Days of Hope, 10 News portrays a child who needs a home between the hours of 6am and 5pm every day. The children are of all ages and races and were placed in foster families through no fault of their own. 2022 is the sixth year that 10 News is doing this series.

Haley is perceptive and smart with a witty sense of humor.

“For me, being in a family means trust, communication and reliability,” says the 16-year-old, who is very active. “Some fun things I like to do are play basketball, run and write music. I like to write rap music.”

She uses music to express her feelings. The 16-year-old is very thoughtful and sweet.

“If I had one wish, it would be to help everyone who needs help. If I had a million dollars, I wouldn’t buy anything. I would donate it because I don’t need that much money,” she said.

Recently, Haley has learned to follow recipes and cook some of her favorite dishes, including southwestern salad.

She can adapt to any situation.

“The dearest thing about me is that I can be honest. My friends would say that I’m a straight person and a comedian. The funny thing about me is that I say what I think,” the teenager said. “A fun way to celebrate my birthday is to go see a movie with my best friend. I’m very proud of myself for not giving up.”

She wants a job to earn her own money. Haley has mentioned several future careers including construction worker, music therapist or entrepreneur.

She likes to go to the mall where she buys some of her favorite things. Haley loves doing her nails and hair and practicing with makeup. Haley is very creative. She likes to read and sew.

Shy at first, Haley is intelligent and sensitive, and when she meets someone, she cares in her own way. She is a strong self-advocate with the ability to say what’s on her mind.

Haley is looking for a family that is trustworthy, reliable and strong in communication. Could you be the family Haley needs?
