After a stellar weekend in Philadelphia, No. 31 Connor Brady is named ACC Wrestler of the Week for the third straight year. The redshirt sophomore defeated three ranked opponents en route to a Keystone Classic title.

Three members of Virginia Tech’s volleyball team have been named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. Cera Powell, Logan Mosley and Anabel Zier were recognized for their performance on the field and in the classroom.

Silas Dsanzi, a senior in his sixth year, has been invited to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl to be played Jan. 28 in Pasadena, California at Rose Bowl Stadium.

To kick off its two-game journey to the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, women’s basketball blew past Kentucky with an 82-74 win on Monday. The Hokies had four players who scored in double digits, led by Senior Elizabeth Kitleywho hit a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Tech leaves the Bahamas unbeaten after a 73-57 win over Missouri on Wednesday. The Hokies were helped off the bench by a 26-point show. Senior Kayana Traylor led the team with an 18-point performance.

Running back Jalen Holston and linebacker Dax Hollifield have both been invited to the Hula Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 14 at UCF FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Fla. One hundred of the top senior athletes will be selected to showcase their talent and will come from the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan for the game.

Volleyball lost 3-1 to Notre Dame at the Cassell Coliseum on Friday. Tech finishes its 2022 season 11-18 overall and 4-14 in ACC action.

In its first home game in nearly two weeks, men’s basketball defeated Charleston Southern 69-64 on Friday. Despite their lowest shooting percentage of the season, the Hokies prevailed, helped by four players who scored in double figures.

On Sunday, women’s basketball went undefeated after a dominating 89-28 win over Longwood. Kitley and Traylor led the way, both scoring double-doubles in the win. Tech was very productive from deep, making 10 3s from 28 attempts while holding Longwood to just 16.7 percent from behind the arc.

Senior Nick Gallo has been named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Football Team, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

Former defenseman DeAngelo Hall will be inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame class in 2023. A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, he received a variety of awards during his tenure from 2001-2003 and will induct an already impressive resume into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
