Post-game notes

  • Jason Taylor II hit his sixth pass of the season in the second quarter, cementing his case for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award. He achieved a tie for the ninth most interceptions by a single player in a season in school history and most since Justin Gilbert had seven in 2013.
  • With interceptions against Iowa State, Oklahoma and West Virginia, Taylor became the fourth OSU player since 2000 to record an interception in three straight games and the first since AJ Green in 2017.
  • Tanner Brown improved his case for the Lou Groza Award by converting field goals from 22 and 38 yards. Brown is now 21-to-22 on field goal attempts this season, extending his streak of consecutive PATs to 76.
  • With running back Dominic Richardson unavailable, Ollie Gordon and Deondre Jackson set career highs in tries and rushing yards against West Virginia. Gordon totaled 17 carries for 136 yards while Jackson recorded 56 yards on 12 rushes.
  • Gordon became the first cowboy freshman to rush for 100 yards against Baylor since Dominic Richardson on December 12, 2020.
  • OSU’s 180 rushing yards as a team is the second most in a game this season, behind only the 197 yards the Cowboys grounded against Arizona State.
  • From the second quarter against Oklahoma to halftime against West Virginia, the Cowboys’ defense held opponents to a total of 246 yards of offense and seven points.
  • Brennan Presley’s 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was Oklahoma State’s first rushing touchdown since October 22 against Texas.
